Richard Hill - Chairman
Richard Hill has extensive investment banking and management experience. He was a founding partner of Hill Young & Associates and formerly held a number of Senior Executive positions in Hong Kong and New York with Wardley Holdings Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. He was admitted as an Attorney in New York State, U.S.A and registered by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Ontario Securities Commission. He is Chairman of Insearch Limited, and a Director of Sirtex Medical Limited (since September 2004).
Nick Kirk - Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director
Nick Kirk joined Calliden in March 2004 as CEO and was appointed to the Board in January 2005. Nick brings considerable management experience in general insurance operations, with more than 25 years experience in the general insurance sector in Australia, the UK and mainland Europe.
Most recently, Nick was General Manager of Vero Insurance Ltd’s Speciality Division, part of the Promina Group. He was responsible for a number of specialist business units including: Marine, Engineering, Aviation, Professional and Financial Risks, Motor Fleet and Home Owners Warranty, during a turbulent time for the insurance industry.
Maurice Loomes - Non-Executive Director
Maurice Loomes has an extensive background in investment analysis and strategy, and for a number of years was a Senior Executive with Guinness Peat Group Plc. He is Chairman of Canberra Investment Corporation Limited (Director since September 1994). He is a member of the industry advisory board of Lazards Australia and a Director of Ariande Australia Limited (since May 2004). Former Director of Tower Limited (October 2003 to March 2005).
Jack Lowenstein - Non-Executive Director
Jack Lowenstein has extensive experience in funds management. He is Deputy Chairman of Hunter Hall International Limited (Director since March 2004) and a Director of Hunter Hall Global Value Limited (since December 2003). He is also Chairman of Kontiki Capital Limited, a Fiji-based regional investment bank. Former Director of Kresta Holdings Limited (November 1997 to November 2005).
John Messenger - Non-Executive Director
John Messenger has more than forty years association with the general insurance industry, including roles in international broking and risk management. Mr Messenger is currently the Chairman of Investa Funds Management Limited, a Director of the Territory Insurance Office and serves on the board of a number of charities. Previous directorships include MLC Insurance Limited, Australian Eagle Life Limited, Frank B Hall Group of the companies, and the Insurance Council of Australia Limited.
Anthony Connon - Non-Executive Director
Anthony Connon has extensive experience in the financial services industry. He is Chief Financial Officer of Australian Unity Limited. He is also a director of a number of Australian Unity Limited’s subsidiaries. Mr Connon has over 30 years experience in senior finance and administrative roles within various organisations including PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Grindlays Bank, and Elders Finance Group. Before joining Australian Unity, Mr Connon was financial controller of the Australian Wheat Board. Mr Connon is the Honorary Treasurer of the Australian Friendly Societies Association and the Chairman of the board of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund.
